With the potential of the contemporary web browser now greater than ever, there's almost no excuse not to take advantage of its features when designing and laying out articles for the web. What was once simple text and image on a printed page can now be supercharged with a bit of javascript and features such as embedded videos, Google Map styling, and parallax image animation. CHOKE OUT, a brief article on the dangerous levels of air pollution in China, uses all of these techniques, along with a complex bit of CoffeeScript to literally "choke out" the user's web browser with smog.
